Study Shows Printers Release Harmful Particle Emissions

Researchers recently released a study of particle emissions from name-brand office printers. Though scientists are unsure exactly what these particles are composed of, they have been proven to cause respiratory and cardiovascular problems, as well as cancer. The study found that the particle levels around printers rise as soon as it begins to print. Printers emitted more particles when printing documents that used more toner, such as those with graphics. Also, newer toner cartridges released more emissions than older ones. Emissions varied between printer models.
