UCLA is one of the only lung transplant centers in the US that offers the procedure to patients over 65 years of age and have recently concluded a study that proves age may not matter to success of organ donation or patient survival rate. According to UCLA "A new UCLA Medical Center study shows that select patients age 65 and older can safely undergo lung transplantation and have acceptable outcomes. The findings are reported in the February issue of the peer-reviewed Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery."
