Site Tells You When the Water's Good for Swimming - submitted by Ben Upham

Air quality is not the only thing Angelenos have to worry about. Water quality -- and in particular, the quality of the water we swim in at city's many beaches -- is also a concern.

A new website, Safe to Swim, provides up-to-date information on water quality at beaches in dozens of counties throughout the state.

The site is the result of a 2006 law requiring the state to post water quality information online. More sites, on drinking water, seafood, and other concerns, are coming.
