Asthma and Sports

Children with asthma don't need to sit on the sidelines for summer sports.
Exercise and sports are beneficial for all children, including children with asthma, so long as they are under a doctor's care and their asthma is under control.
All children with asthma should
- make their caregivers and coaches aware of their condition
- carry emergency medication
Highly active sports like running, biking, basketball, soccer may require some extra care, but so long as children are taking all medications as prescribed and have emergency medications on hand, they can be encouraged to play any sport they enjoy.
