UCLA Anderson School NET Impact Consulting Challenge Creates SEO Strategy for BREATHE LA

UCLA Anderson Net Impact Challenge 2009 teamed MBA candidates with BREATHE LA to create a powerful search engine optimization implementation plan in a whirlwind ten day competition.

UCLA Anderson School MBA candidates (L-R) Viswa Velur, David Castle, Sarah Locher (with BREATHE LA Julia Robinson Shimizu), Sai Munkdan and Louqman Parampath participated as 2009
BREATHE LA team.

This is the second time BREATHE LA has been chosen to take part in UCLA Anderson School Net Impact Consulting Challenge. UCLA Anderson Net Impact is the UCLA Chapter of the National Net Impact organization. Net Impact’s mission is to improve the world by growing and strengthening a network of new leaders who are using the power of business to make a positive net social, environmental, and economic impact.

The selection process was highly competetive and BREATHE LA is proud to be among only twelve non-profit organizations chosen. 2009 marked the 4th annual UCLA Anderson School event and exeplified UCLA Anderson's commitment to public service and nonprofit organizations in our community.

"By bringing together nonprofit organizations with teams of MBA and public policy students, the organizations benefit from strategic solutions for their most pressing business problems."

The Net Impact Consulting Challenge engagements are short-term strategic problem-solving consultations where nonprofits and team members work together over two weeks. Projects culminate in group presentations with feedback from academics and consultants working in the field. Past nonprofit participants have gained assistance in implementing technology solutions, strategizing revenue opportunities, developing marketing materials, and more.

BREATHE LA Team provided an internet based marketing plan including a comprehensive plan to increase web traffic through search engine optimization (SEO) techniques and wrote job descriptions to recruit skilled volunteers like themselves who could maintain onhoing optimization efforts beyond initial steps implemented within the consultation period. Product Deliverables included schematic marketing plan, job descriptions for web marketing and SEO volunteers and a much-valued jump-start on implementation including meta-tagging and web analysis update.

BREATHE LA thanks our exceptional consulting team, David Castle, Viswa Velur, Sarah Locher, Sai Mukundan and Louqman Parampath, seen here with BREATHE LA Julia Robinson Shimizu at UCLA Fowler Museum where the 2009 consulting challenge presentations were made. The talented student group exemplified commitment to excellence and team work ethic. Their outstanding work will benefit BREATHE LA in myriad ways and is much appreciated.
