Grant Funds Lung Health Research Benefiting Low-Income Kids & Families in Los Angeles
California Communities Foundation (CCF) awarded BREATHE LA a generous $57,450 grant to carry out lung health research vital to Los Angeles residents. CCF funding supports BREATHE LA’s medical research in the area of lung health for youth in high-risk, inner city neighborhoods. This research will enable the creation of the Breath of Life Index (BLI) which intends to identify and select critical factors related to asthma and asthma risk. It will also establish measurements, indicators and benchmarks for each, and then test the index through control and study groups. BLI is ultimately intended to be used as a tool by those working with low-income children and families who are often at the greatest risk for developing asthma and other lung diseases.
BREATHE LA sincerely thanks CCF for funding research that will help us all BREATHE better.
