4-U-N-I Teens Team Up with USC LACI Student Consultants
From September to December 2008, five student consultants, Jackie Hu, Carly Olson, Krishen Kotecha, Frances Yen and Cathy Liu, with USC Los Angeles Community Impact (LACI)
worked with BREATHE LA staff and 4-U-N-I high school student leaders to develop a method of using text messaging to discourage the use of tobacco amongst teens.
The resulting report will provide a road map for BREATHE LA 4-U-N-I Text to Quit projects in 2009.
LACI Students began by evaluating the feasibility and
effectiveness of text messaging "as a method of promoting awareness of the harmful effects of tobacco and the resources available to students who desire to quit using it." and created a business plan to guide implementation of the project.
