O24U

024U, BREATHE LA's signature environmental education program provides after school enrichment to low income children living in areas impacted by high levels of air pollution in Los Angeles County. Children are engaged in environmental awareness with an after-school young scientist enrichment program. BREATHE LA's O24U program is available for implementation in school, after school, or youth-program settings. BREATHE LA's O24U program goal is to educate local youth populations on air quality issues through hands-on experiments and activities - empowering them to become advocates for clean air in their communities. After school programs including Beyond the Bell, Boys and Girls Clubs and 4-H Clubs have participated in BREATHE LA's O24U program.

Over 800 children in Los Angeles County participated in the program in 2006-2007, developing an understanding of environmentally friendly behavior, knowledge of alternative fuels, health effects and sources of air pollution as well as a positive attitude about the role they play in promoting clean air.
