BREATHE LA invites you to stand up to speak out about Second Hand Smoke in outdoor public places in the City of Glendale. If you live in Glendale, or know someone who does, help educate the Glendale City Council about the issues related to Second Hand Smoke in Public Places.Attend Glendale City Council Hearing on March 25th, 2008&quot;There is no safe exposure level to second hand smoke,&quot; according to the Surgeon General of the United States, second hand smoke is dangerous in any amount and the only way to eliminate danger is to eliminate smoking in public places. Source: U.S. Surgeon General Richard Carmona's &quot;The Health Consequences of Involuntary Exposure to Tobacco Smoke&quot; released June 2007Glendale City Council will review the problem of secondhand smoke in their community on Tuesday, March 25th at 6 pm. City Hall: 613 E. Broadway, 2nd floor, Glendale, 91206 Glendale residents can speak out about drifting tobacco smoke in their apartments as well as in public places in Glendale. It is time to ask the Glendale City Council for help in controlling tobacco smoke in outdoor public places as well as tobacco smoke in multi-unit housing. Your voice can encourage the Council to take further action. If you can attend, please share your thoughts on the dangers of secondhand smoke in public places as well as the following points :<ul><li>Thank the Council for their action on the Tobacco Retail License </li><li>Thank them for considering regulating secondhand smoke in outdoor public areas </li><li>and </li><li>Ask them to consider examining the problem of drifting tobacco smoke in apartments. </li></ul>BREATHE LA supports the creation of smoke-free units in apartment buildings. Although tobacco use is a personal choice, BREATHE LA reccomends taking personal responsibility for the greater good. This can be achieved through protecting the health of others by limiting exposure to drifting cigarette smoke. How? The simplest way is to quit smoking, or help someone you care about quit.
