Video Clips of Transit-Orientated Green Salon Featuring the Miracle Mile
BREATHE LA hosted its first Green Salon of 2012 on April 26 to explore how we can create more vibrant communities in Los Angeles through examining the case of the Miracle Mile. Public policy increasingly promotes Transit-Oriented Districts characterized by mixed use (residential, retail and commercial), designs that encourage pedestrian activity, and embraces multi-faceted economies. The Miracle Mile has established just such a community.
Panelists addressed several questions including: What has led to the creation of one of the most livable neighborhoods in Los Angeles County? How have local organizations collaborated with the private sector and governments to make surrounding neighborhoods desirable places to live, work and visit? What lessons are there for planning other similar communities? How can the new transit infrastructure on the Miracle Mile provide increasing benefits for local residents, merchants, property owners and others?
