California Energy Commission Brings Solar Home
If there's one thing many Californians care about, it's reducing energy costs. Now, the Golden State is working to ensure that Californians have the option of buying a home that can lower their utility bill by up to 60 percent. The California Energy Commission's New Solar Homes Partnership (NSHP) - part of the California Solar Initiative - was created to encourage construction of new, energy efficient solar homes statewide, and to provide home builders with incentives to go solar.
Today's new energy efficient solar homes incorporate many more features than just solar panels on the roof. From flooring and lighting to windows and water heaters, today's environmentally-conscious homeowners have limitless options when it comes to "green" features. And if you're looking for smart and simple ways to save energy and money in your current home, consider turning down your thermostat, trading in an old appliance for a newer model or switching out 75-watt light bulbs for the more efficient 20-watt Energy Star bulbs.
To win a complete green home makeover of your own, and to learn more about energy efficient and solar home features,
