Background
In June 2008, BREATHE LA launched an innovative series on clean air, the environment and healthy living-to wide acclaim and great accomplishment. The name for it was "Pollution & Solutions" and the six salons brought together hundreds of people, including an array of journalists, elected officials and their staff, experts, policy analysts, thought leaders, neighborhood council members, and other community stakeholders.
Growing out of that record of success and building upon the level of enthusiasm and excitement for more salons, BREATHE LA is proud to hold its 3rd annual Green Salon Series, focusing this year on the Green Streets of LA: how the Los Angeles community is taking on sustainable solutions as they relate to California's landmark legislation, AB 32 Global Warming Act.
The series brings together journalists, elected officials and their staff, issue experts, policy analysts, thought leaders, neighborhood council members, and other community stakeholders. Kicking off with an innovative discussion regarding digital media and AB32 in March, the 2010 Green Salon Series will examine issues that affect clean air and the environment from local neighborhoods all the way to Sacramento. Last year saw six successful salons, culminating in a thoughtful discussion with one the earliest and most vocal voices in environmental responsibility, actor and activist Ed Begley, Jr. This year's salons promise equally engaging panels. Each salon will be introduced by elected officials; issue experts and advocates will participate as panelists and responders; and the audience will be encouraged to conclude the salon with a robust Q&A session.
