4UNI Teens Helping Teens Quit Smoking Gathered at Venice Beach to Help Clean Up the Beach!
BREATHE LA 4-U-N-I Teens Helping Teens Quit Smoking, in conjunction with
Heal the Bay held Cigarette Butt Beach Clean Up on Saturday April 11, 2009 at Venice Beach. 4UNI Teens Helping Teens Quit Smoking high school students were joined by community and UCLA volunteers to make a clean sweep of the beach. The day started out chilly and overcast, but warmed to a bright sunny afternoon and a job well done!
4-U-N-I is a student led, BREATHE LA supported, teen quit smoking program designed to inspire, support, and assist youth in Los Angeles high schools.
The mission of 4-U-N-I is to be the groundbreaking force in L.A. County to help reach the 2010 National Quit Goals for Youth “Reduce illness, disability, and death related to tobacco use and exposure to secondhand smoke”.
The 4-U-N-I program encourages and empowers teens to make positive choices and differences in their homes and communities through one on one mentoring and community service projects. Students can download program materials from BREATHE LA website to start a 4UNI chapter in their school.
