"SMOKING BAN" SAYS PARKS - "HOORAY!" SAYS BREATHE LA
BREATHE LA applauds Councilmember Bernard Parks for proposing a comprehensive ban on smoking in Los Angeles. Presented for consideration by Los Angeles City Council, the ban would make it illegal to smoke in any public place in Los Angeles. This could save lives, and improve the quality of life for countless Los Angeles residents and workers. Tobacco is harmful to the health of smokers and contributes to air pollution. Second-hand smoke, drifitng smoke from a smoldering cigarette can be harmful to others as well. There is no safe exposure level of second hand smoke and drifting tobacco smoke can trigger asthma attacks, allergic reactions and respiratory discomfort for people of all ages. BREATHE LA continues to fight for a smoke free Los Angeles.
BREATHE LA 4-U-N-I Teen Quit Smoking Program provides high school students with a powerful tool to quit smoking, peer to peer mentoring. Thank you, Councilmember Parks, for this courageous step towards clean air and lung health in Los Angeles.
