Michael Arlen

Mr. Arlen is a seasoned business leader; successful serial entrepreneur; resourceful out- of-the-box thinker; and respected mentor. His service to BREATHE LA as a visionary with persuasive consensus building skills has been invaluable in leading the organization through dynamic change. Immediate past co-chair of BREATHE LA Marketing/Development Committee 2008-2009, Mr. Arlen has served as Board Chair and as chair of Bylaws & Nominating Committee 2008-2009.

Mr. Arlen has a successful track record of leadership in charitable organizations. He was the Chair of the American Lung Association of Greater Los Angeles 1998, and served on the American Lung Association's California State Board for 8 years. He iscurrently the Chair of BREATHE California of Los Angeles County (BREATHE LA), the successor organization to the American Lung Association of Los Angeles County. He has also served industry-related groups including Employment Management Association, Professionals in Human Resources Management PIHRA, American Society of Association Executives, Asian American Advertising and Public Relations Alliance, World Trade Center Association of Los Angeles and The Social Marketing Association.

Mr. Arlen was a pioneer in the sales automation, desktop publishing and e-commerce revolutions. He is currently in the process of launching a new Nutraceutical Company, which will specialize in the development and marketing of functional foods and beverages. Innovative companies he has founded and managed include Arlen Advertising, Arlen Medical Education Products, ShoppingNet, Int'l., (ShoppingNet.com),and Your LogoOnIt.com.

Mr. Arlen holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Anthropology from U.C.L.A. and a Juris Doctorate from Loyola Law School. Fluent in both Spanish and Portuguese, Mr. Arlen has lived and taught in Spain and has traveled the world for business and pleasure including advertising joint-ventures established in Hong Kong, Singapore, Taipei, Tokyo and Mexico City. He resides in Mar Vista, California with his wife, Phebe and children, Robert (14), Emily (11) and Mary (8).
