Mr. Nelson, a registered principal with First Wall Street Corporation, one of Southern California's largest locally owned brokerage firms, provides a wide range of client-specific financial services, including portfolio management, retirement and post retirement planning, estate planning, wealth transfer, credit counseling and repair.
In addition, Mr. Nelson is a consultant for the financial services industry and serves as an expert witness in securities litigation dealing with fraud and broker abuse.
Mr. Nelson sits on the board of Directors of BREATHE California of Los Angeles County (BREATHE LA) and is actively involved in numerous working committees within BREATHE LA. While working on the Planned Giving Committee, for instance, he helps implement different strategies to increase bequests and to raise general Public Awareness of BREATHE LA and its associated charitable donation options.
He also sits on the board of several business, fraternal, and religious organizations. Mr. Nelson is the past treasurer of Westside Referrals Network, a local chapter of LeTip International; over the past five years, he has been instrumental in growing the chapter from six to 45 members. He is the past regional president of the Order of DeMolay, a fraternity that teaches civic duty and community services to young men. He currently serves as treasurer for the board of trustees at San Gabriel Valley's largest United Methodist Church, for which he also serve on the finance committee.
Mr. Nelson's interest in medicine and the art of healing began as a young child through his mother, formerly the associate dean at USC's School of Medicine. He became specifically interested in the American Lung Association when his parents were stricken with respiratory diseases, which ultimately took both of their lives.
Hailing from Washington, D.C., Mr. Nelson graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in communication arts and sciences. Prior to graduation, he learned the boutique side of the financial services industry as an intern at Sutro & Company, the oldest financial services firm west of the Mississippi River. He then built a successful financial practice at Paine Webber, the fourth largest brokerage/financial services firm in the U.S., assisting hundreds of businesses, families and individuals with a wide range of financial needs.
Mr. Nelson currently resides in Arcadia, California, with his wife, Melissa, a healthcare
Administrator, and their two daughters, Abigail and Melanie.
