Breathe California of Los Angeles County, a non-profit, public benefit organization promoting clean air and healthy lungs, returned to Valley College for one of its five Green Salon Series to facilitate a panel of neighborhood organizations and discuss their approaches to "green" and improve communities.

BREATHE LA is actively working to ensure the implementation of legislation that promotes emissions control and reduction. A major focus is currently underway to aid in the implementation of the AB 32 Global Warming Act and to address initiatives that would deter this implementation. BREATHE LA is also actively involved in the Los Angeles 30/10 Plan to expedite public transportation plans already approved for Los Angeles County.

Tips to Protect Families During Flu Season

Even healthy people can contract the influenza (flu) virus during the flu season. People can reduce their risk with a flu shot this season.  Most at-risk during flu season are infants and those who suffer from chronic lung conditions such as asthma or COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease), where coughing and breathing become difficult.  According to the Centers for Disease Control, flu vaccine can prevent illness in up to 90 percent of people under 65 years of age. Flu shots are quick and readily available.
